A Virginia Estate Wedding in Fall

Lauren and Dustin invited me to photograph their Virginia Estate wedding at the Apple Blossom Inn this November. Lauren and I have been friends for years and I was so afraid that this virus was going to keep me from making it to her big day. The day I was to leave for the drive from Ohio finally came and everything worked out perfectly. I was lucky enough to bring Desttany, my second shooter along with me, whom I couldn’t have made it without on this trip! (Thank you so much for joining me on the road trip girl!)

As we pulled up the stone driveway surrounded by newly turned leaves, we had a perfect view of the historic estate home with beautiful white columns and rustic rocking chairs. It is truly a photographers dream! I would love to have the opportunity to shoot here again in the future.

We arrived to the Inn and wandered around for a bit to scout out the light and look for some spaces we wanted to use for portraits. Dustin and his Groomsmen were enjoying some shooting clay pigeons in the back lawn of the grounds when we pulled in, while Lauren and her crew were upstairs getting ready.

They opted to wait and see each other when Lauren came down the aisle with her Father. And in that moment, you could feel his relief once he laid eyes on his soon-to-be wife. The ceremony was conducted by a close friend and it was filled with so much love and laughter. As they walked back up the aisle as Husband and Wife, everyone stood and cheered. Having everyone support their new marriage was such a beautiful sight.

When it was time for the toasts Lauren’s father brought tears to everyone’s eyes, including mine. The love of a Father is so strong, but the bond between these two is absolutely incredible. I think this was probably my favorite part of the day. I know there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

The evening wrapped with a dance party on the back patio with Lauren and Dustin enjoying some time with their guests. The evening tapered off and much needed hugs were given as guests departed for the night.

The entire day was so wonderful and full of so much laughter. I hope that you both look back on your day and remember how much fun you had surrounded by those who matter most to you. Congratulations on your marriage!
